More on arthritis of the hip symptoms

In some patients with hip disease, knee pain may be the only symptom.

In some patients, hip osteoarhritic may also result in a loss of motion of the hip joint causing difficulty in doing daily activities.Climbing or descending stairs or arising from a chair is especially painful. This is another arthritis of the hip symptoms

Significant hip disease will also cause a limp and one leg may feel shorter than the other. As the disease progresses, the hip can become stiff and less mobile. Moving about after prolonged sitting may be especially painful.

In deterioration of the hip joint, thinning of the cartilage and fragments of cartilage floating in the joint may cause inflammation in the joint lining, which also causes pain. When the cartilage is completely absent, bare bone on the head of the femur grinds against the bone of the pelvic socket and causes even more severe pain. The distance you can walk will gradually decrease, along with other general activities.
